About Me
I'm Chris, currently a college freshman who enjoys growing carnivorous plants. I've been interested in these plants since before elementary school. My first experience with carnivorous plants that I can remember occurred when I was in Kindergarten. It was then that my mom bought me a Venus Flytrap (after I begged :)). Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly), the plant died. It was, however, my closest encounter with the realm of carnivorous plants I had had in my life (at that time). Looking back, the experience foreshadowed the start of a long term hobby. The Savage Garden, by Peter D'Amato of California Carnivores, which I first found in a nearby public library, was a crucial book that helped me take my first real steps into the wonderful world of insect-eating plants.
Why this site?
This photo collection/blog is a way for me to document my plants throughout the year while designing a website at the same time...I enjoy designing websites (at least through sites such as Weebly). I also enjoy taking photos of my plants, and I think of myself as a nature photography fan. I want to, and try to, capture the beauty of carnivorous plants with my photos. And lastly, I hope you will learn something about carnivorous plants from this site too.
Note:
- I only use photos I have taken (including background pictures) for this site. The only "picture" I got off the internet is the down arrow on the home page under the main title.
- If you happen to want to use one of my photos for something, please reference this site. Contact me if you have any questions.
- Photos in galleries are not necessarily chronological (as in top photos are newest and bottom photos are oldest). I put the month the photo was taken in as part of the photo description.
- Gallery photos are all photos of my collection. Photos on other pages (usually header background photos) may be photos I took somewhere else (like at a botanical garden).

Drosera
Nepenthes
Pinguicula
Cephalotus
Utricularia
These plants are the ones I have currently. I used to also have Drosophyllum lusitanicum, Drosera alicae, and Nepenthes singalana, but they ended up dying. Maybe I'll give them another try in the future. I got all my plants from California Carnivores. Check them out at www.californiacarnivores.com.
